I'm gonna change my oil this week. for a filter, use the OEM oneor Mobil 1. For oil, it depends on temperature. Im using 5W30 Mobil 1 synthetic, its a good all season oil. If you live in a really cold climate, use lighter oil, like 0W40 or something, if hotter, then use a heavier oil. the manual says it takes 4.3 quarts, but people have said its over the full line at 4 quarts, so a little less than that.

The manual is incorrect in the oil amount. The car should take just over 3.5 quarts. And OEM filters are normally Mann or Bosch. I use Mann and like BoostedA4, I always use Mobil 1 synthetic oil. 5w30

I use is Mobil 1 (synthetic oil) 5w50. My mechanic(gym buddy too) works on ferraris, lambhorginis and porsches. He apparently has tonnes of knowledge and experience with these cars as well as audis and vw's. He says that mobil-1 5w50 is the way to go. i dont argue....

I have a 98.5 A4 1.8T QTR

Thats just a service reminder that displays every so many miles. The dealer would normally remove that reminder by changing a VAG code.

What year is your car? There is a way to do it using the instrument panel on certain model years... I've done it on my 98.5

This is taken from the AW tech section...

To reset it permanently, follow these instructions:
