Default 98 A4 2.8 exhaust issues

So I was driving through NYC last weekend and I managed to hit a pothole about the size of my car...lol. Guess its not too hard to find them in the city. Anyways, a few minutes later I noticed my car starting to get real loud. When I arrived home and checked it out, I found that the flex section on the passengers side had a massive crack in it. I have temporarily patched the hole...but here is my question. Is there a way to replace this flex pipe without having to weld it on? It looks to me like it is welded on both sides. I wanted to replace it myself to save some $ and I am not a welder.

And since im typing...I have one more question. The display that shows the outside temperature in my dash has been acting kinda weird. I started it the other day when it was like 65 degrees and the temp was reading -54 degrees. I took about an hour of the car being driven before it finally corrected itself. I was thinking something is wrong with the sensor for it...but I have no idea where it is.

Any help would be great.
Thanks

You will definitly need to get a new flex pipe welded in. I had this done recently and cost about $100 with the flex pipe included

I can't remmember off the top of my head. You will just need to get under your car and measure it. 2.25" sounds like it could be right but I would double check this.

Default exhaust

I have a 97 a4 quattro 2.8 and just did this repair myself it was the 2 inch X 6 inch flex pipes I got off ebay my item numbers was 370113244758 they were 15.00 a piece plus shipping, made by Complete Exhaust Systems , just get somebody at a local exhaust shop to weld them in,make sure you get all stainless or it will rust out on you, since I did this myself I did a little custom work as I had previously used strait pipe but it cracked after awhile so make sure you measure the outside diameter of your pipes, dont know if 98 is different, they are all over ebay.....good luck
