98' 1.8TQM $2900, opinions? Link Within...
Audi A4 1.8T 1998
If the link doesn't work for some reason, a guy on craigslist is selling a 1998.5 1.8T quattro, 5 speed for $2900.
I talked to him via text for a little bit and he said it will need a steering rack soon, and some sort of differential seal. I proceeded to ask how much power steering fluid and differential fluid it loses on a daily/weekly basis and he said he honestly hasn't noticed it leaking anything, and that it was the shop that last changed the oil and serviced it who told him these things.
He did say that he hears or feels something in the steering at low speeds at full crank, like pulling out of a parking space for example, but he said once you are driving you don't notice anything wrong with the steering.
Opinions are much appreciated as I was thinking about looking at it and test driving it tomorrow afternoon. It's the only B5 I've seen in quite some time that's in decent condition for a reasonable price, everyone else wants over $5k, and trust me I look every day.
I hear steering racks are a PITA.
I just like it because it already has one piece headlights, looks to be a replica rs4 grille, I believe I even spot sport cloth seats which are an awesome plus IMO, boost gauge, upgraded pedals, brakes look different (audi symbol on caliper if I am seeing that correctly) body and paint look to be in excellent condition... aftermarket deck so it's ready for my amp/sub
Thanks!
