97.5 Sealed trans slipping

You're right that the absolute max they will likely change is 7 quarts. That's about what I got from tilting my car up at the front for a while, to drain out the cooler lines (at least I was hoping that would happen). However, I won't and don't pay Audi/VW or Pentosin prices for trans fluid. I've been using Valvoline MaxLife Dex/Merc synthetic for over 75,000 miles in my '96. After initially pulling the pan, changing the filter, and filling with MaxLife, I drove for 40k miles before a drain/refill without pan removal. A few weeks ago I drained and removed the pan to see what had accumulated over the miles. There were almost no deposits on the pan surface, and the magnets had only a little of the metalic sludge on them. Perfect shifts at 242,000 miles too!
