96 a4 cel on rough idle
I have a 96 a4 2.8 with 154,000 on it. The car runs really well unless I let it idle for an extended period of time(like 4-5 min). If I do let it idle to long the cel will come on and throw 0174, 0171,1101, and 1106. I can erase the codes and the cel will stay off until I let it idle for 4-5 min. When I let it idle for that couple of minutes the idle becomes erratic, jumping up and down 200 or so rpm. Most recently the cel also threw 0161, and 0173 codes. I have replaced the MAF and a few vacuum lines and cannot find a vacuum leak anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

well those are P codes, not VAG codes. probably why they are not there.
P0174 System Too Lean (Bank 2)
P0171 System Too Lean (Bank 1)
P1101 - MAF Sensor Out Of Self Test Range
P1106 O2 Sensor Circ.,Bank2-Sensor1 Voltage too Low/Air Leak
replace your MAF and the drivers side primary O2 sensor and you are good to go.

Google codes. P codes are pretty much standard.
Clean the MAF first. Use MAF cleaner. If not, replace the MAF. Don't touch the O2 sensor until you have your MAF working because a bad MAF sensor can make it appear like the O2 sensors are bad when they may not be. Clear the codes after trying each thing and wait to see if they come back before moving on.

etc.
It should be obvious that they were P codes IMO.

As for the codes.. MAF and O2 problems can cause codes for the other. The cheapest to change is the O2 and clean the MAF, but you've already did the MAF.
Does this happen only when idling longer than 3-4 mins? Can you drive all day, sit at a light for 1-2 minutes and not have it happen? I'm thinking more like an engine temp sensor, inlet air temp sensor, etc...
