'96 2.8 to 2.7T Build
Coming from BMW, I really love my A4 but the 12v is a bit weak. I'm going to drop in a custom rebuilt 2.7t. For those of you who are going to say sell my A4 and buy an S4, please PM it to me so I can delete it for everyone else, enjoy!
What I have:
1996 A4 2.8 12v, 5spd, quattro
2000 2.7TT complete running engine w/ all electronics, wiring, accessories, etc
Eaton M62 Supercharger (and both stock turbos)
H&R Springs & Bilstein shocks
Suptertech Valve Kit 1mm over
Pauter Rod Kit
EFP 107 Pistons 82.5mm, 2771cc, 9.0:1
Sheevaplug Carputer (60% done)
What I Need:
Clutch
Brakes
Fuel regulator, green giant injectors, lines
Crank
Cams
CV's, new head bolts, gaskets and that sorta ****
APR Chip and/or standalone
Time & an ounce of kush
Stay tuned.

Sounds good, although I'm not sure what you're planning with the Eaton. For your drivetrain, don't forget the S4 6-speed trans, diffs, and axles, uprights, etc (or swapping the axle cups from your current trans onto the 6-speed so you can keep your existing drive axles). More info in the sticky posts up top regarding this.

I'm not an expert on swaps and conversions, but I can say this with confidence - Your "what I need" list should be about 6 times as long, and nobody will be holding their breath on this. Good luck though.

I wouldn't mind seeing a sc twin turbo on a '96 A4 - that doesn't come standard.
May as well stroke it out to a supercharged 2.8TT lol; I think some of the 2.7T A6 guys stroke their engines, but they don't use superchargers... KO4 turbo upgrade can get you dual flames out of the tailpipe - I saw a video of it on AZ the other day.
Also, you probably should step it up to a pound, not an ounce

Twincharging isn't needed unless you're going for ridiculous power which will necessitate building a lot more than the engine. Pointless unless you have a huge bank account that you can justify blowing just so you can say your member hangs the lowest.

The Devil is right (I like the cut of your jib, btw), twincharging it is beyond the scope of what I want to do. I am NOT looking for crazy high horsepower but rather low end power which is where the eaton comes in. The 4.2 would affect the handling of the car more than I'm interested in. The 2.7 is the closest to the weight and size that I would like to keep.
As far as stroking it goes, I already have the pistons and rods so I'm not sending them back and getting different ones.
The drivetrain is up in the air at the moment. I'm going to be doing this mainly with my best friend, who is a tranny specialist. We're going to see if we can mate the 2.7 up to the 5 spd manual for ***** and giggles. It wouldn't be the first time he's tried something like this. He has successfully mated a 4.3 Vortec to a M5OD (yes, really). If it's going to be more than moderately difficult then I will grab the 6 speed and accompanying drivetrain.
One last thing, I'd prefer to keep money out of the thread. I'm doing this for the love of building ****. I am NOT doing this to make a statement about my income or to have the best cure for small-man-syndrome. Financial details for this project won't be posted and comments (although appreciated) will be disregarded.
I will be tearing apart the motor this weekend to get the block and heads ready to be sent out for machining.
