So I fired her up today. Now I have to change the coolant hose and slave cylinder since its leaking like crazy .

I must say though that for a car that had been sitting a while she started right up. The S4 cluster seems a little off rpm wise but thats to be expected but it did feel good to see"press clutch to start".

Congrats on the job so far.....I too have the same luck with parts. Looking forward to seeing videos of the car enjoying its new transmission.

The cluster is off because it's programmed for an s4 engine, you can code the cluster for your car with vag com u just need the code off the s4 cluster first.

OD thanks brother. Yea it sucks but I rather have it break on my driveway than on the road somewhere.

Just waiting for my buddy to get back in town with his vag com so I can change the values on the cluster.

That S4 cluster is pretty sweet.....sucks you gotta fix the pixel issue. Looks like a job well done though.

On a scale of 1-10, 10 being hardest, how would rate the swap?

Yea it seems like a cluster w/o pixel issues is RARE. Still is better than my stock one where I couldn't tell what was goin on haha.

Well if I had to rate it I'd have to say an 7.5-8. It's certainly harder than an oil change but not as bad as a motor swap. But then again I have been messing with cars most of my life so my 7.5-8 may be someones 10 or more. That's the reason I tried to make it as detailed as possible, if you read thorugh it and feel like you can do it go for it I'll gladly help anywhere I can.

Got my belt on today (been procrastinating)

The belt went on a lot easier after I removed this roller (for some reason mine came pre assembled)

Next up cam chain tensioner gasket (a few pics of the horrible process lol what a PITA) Walky thanks for the tool! She'll be sent back this weekend.

Anyone care to guess why I had TWO half moon seals back there????? And neither one was stopping it from leaking SMH.

New gasket and half moon seal

Installed (minus being tightned down) A little peratex on the gasket just to be safe

http://www.flickr.com/photos/49981109@N08/5962854090/http://www.flickr.com/photos/49981109@N08/5962854090/ by http://www.flickr.com/people/49981109@N08/, on Flickr

Next up probably break down and buy a snub mount I've been putting it off but Since the front end is already off I might as well. I'll have all of the other belts (all brand new)installed tomorrow. Also changed my cam seals those were fun too.
