Has someone been browsing RX7Club? How did you know I was a rotary guy? The Rx7 was fun and loud. Somehow it lacked the sophistication that comes with the Audi badge.

My Italian friend was reprimanding me for modifying my finely crafted german automobile, I told him about people swapping in V8s and had to show him a picture. Happened upon your photo bucket and did a little exploring.

Pretty sweet fender flares you had goin'. Did you end up selling it?

This was my FC. Sold it for $400 after it blew an apex seal.

Yeah. Selling the Mazda was one of the conditions for my wife allowing me to do the V8 swap. Sold it a young kid and his dad. I'm glad that it went to a home where it will be well taken care of.

Nice looking FC. I see them around and instantly recognize the sound. At some point in life I'll get an FD to play with.

I didn't think that any NA B5's came with immobilizer. Are you running an immobilizer equipped engine/ECU from a later generation?
Ah, I thought you were running the AWN ECU already. I'm running a B5.5 Passat ECU, so there is one. Nevermind all this then I guess.

I wish I had gotten AWN ECU in by now. Between moving and work, I haven't had much time at all to spend on this part of the project.

Got started on the wiring changes to run the modified AWN ECU today. Super excited to get rid of the issues caused by the ART ECU. Not so excited to be back to tracking down wires.

Understand that. It is tedious work, and has the potential to create new problems.

I'd rather think of it as a labor of love. I didn't do this swap to increase the "value" of the car. I did this because it puts a smile on my face every time I bury the loud pedal. I'm now in the 13th hour and it's so close to completion that I can smell it.

Back up and running! With the newer ECU pin 21 apparently needs power through a diode to defeat the immobilizer. I thought that I may have gotten the polarity wrong, but it turns out that the 75x terminal is not hot during start and so the ECU was never getting the signal while cranking.

I haven't reassembled anything yet (dash, ECU box, rain tray, etc), but the trip around the block was AMAZING! No more rev-hang, high idle, or SAI noise. Tomorrow I'll put everything else back together and install the $100 DTS I picked up on CL.
