Default 3 misfire codes after Lucas Gas treatment

Last night I filled my tank up with premium fuel and added a bottle of Lucas Fuel cleaner. It had started fine the few days before, not today. It took about 40 seconds of my turning the ignition over to get her to fire. Driving down the highway I hit 60 mph and it started to shake badly throwing codes. Went to advanced auto and scanned it...... 3 misfire codes. I don't know if anyone else has ever had this happen before but I thought it was supposed to help. Crap happens I guess. Hopefully I can run the tank dry, sea foam it and call it a day.

i heard one story about using that stuff
my friend was driving from a trip and 100miles from home he got gas and decided to use that fuel cleaner stuff too. i believe that he had to replace his fuel lines cuz that stuff just ate them.

Some cars just don't like some additives.

Did you put the lucas in first and then fill up the tank?

I put it in after I filled it. I forgot I had an extra bottle of it until I got home from the gas station.

i've never had that problem. however, i started using marvel mystery oil lately in the gas and it really helps. i only put $20 of gas in when the light turns on and i use a little bit of marvel every other time i get gas. my engine feels slightly smoother and doesn't shake as much when idling. if i skip using it once, i get the shakes back. maybe i'm just going crazy lol.

Yep crazy. OP It's perfectly common a lot of times to get drivability issues after using a cleaner on an older car. you"re passing a lot of **** through the system as it cleans it. If it doesn't straighten out by the end of the next tank that's when you get concerned.

I know on the bottle its recommended that it be put in before the fill up. This is to properly mix the additive. If you just added it to the tank when you got home, the additive may not have properly mixed with the gas and just got sucked up by the fuel pump?
