Sorry to drag this thread back up but did you guys know the Euro B6 190bhp S-Line (I Got one) come with twin SMIC standard already fitted.
Here a crashed S-Line I was looking to buy untill I found out it was FWD but you can see the SMIC on the left.

Nuespeed makes a twin SMIC set for round 1k. I haven't read this whole thread yet but it doesn't create as much lag as you'd think. The air mass flows great on it and is a good upgrade but since its more restricted of airflow it still won't produce the effects of an FMIC. I'd just get a FM and put DIY plasti-dipped mesh to keep it hidden

And the Neuspeed DSMIC kit is a direct bolt-on and with average mechanic skills its a easy straightforward install. You may see 1 or 2 lbs of boost loss but with any upgraded CAC this will happen, but the lower IAT's are so much worth it. Just thought I'd toss it up there, even though its not the best CAC upgrade, its still better than the stock IC.

Are you sure that Nuespeed kit isnt for the GTI/Jetta? The stock ic flows like crap! Have you ever seen inside of them? Adding another would only get you minor results since the flow change would offset the cooling.
If people want a simple install, there are few upgraded smic's available that will slide right in. However, they are just as much if not more than a ebay fmic kit which would probably give the same results.

There are several AZr's running the DSMIC. And I said it flows better than the single factory IC, but definetely not good enough as other CAC options. I'm just saying that if the OP or whomever has their minds set on the DSMIC go ahead, it won't hurt. But with the $1,000 I'd go for a Racetec or ER FMIC, actually even an ebay core will do since its a stock turbo having a huge core will add lag since it'll take a lot longer to fill in the IC with air volume. If he's concerned about looking stock (which is why most people do this mod) if you put mesh on the bumper it hides the FMIC well enough and still allows air to hit the core.
