2001 B5 Bose Replacement
I've searched and searched for someone to give me an answer on my car. I have a 2001 B5 with Bose audio. The speakers all sound pretty crappy (especially the rears), so today I removed the rear 6.5 speakers (they are completely blown). Are there any 6.5 speakers I can purchase and just plug back in and play? I'd really rather not purchase the same bose speakers. I eventually wanna get around to replacing the speakers in the doors as well. But for now I really need a little bass in my music. I've read that I need 2 ohm speakers, but I cant find any info on if "any" 2 ohm's speakers will work. I've read there is a bose amp somewhere? dunno how much that might complicate things? Any answers are greatly appreciated. I'm definitely not a "car guy" so sorry if this is a ridiculous post.

I believe the 98 and 01 should be about the same as we both have bose. When i bought my rear deck speakers i was also shipped a crappy looking plastic adapter (Crutchfield), what i ended up doing is throwing those away and removing the stock speakers from there bases (the things they were sitting in) and simply put the new speakers in and screwed them down. As far as the wiring you have to cut the connector off and connect the 2 wires that come with your speakers to the two wires that attached to the connector. I personally put 6.5" Sony xplodes and they have quite a bit of bass.
The bose amp (atleast in my car) is on the drivers side, just behind the rear seat. Its bolted to the rear deck. Its just a black box with wires coming out of the back. I haven't replace my door speakers so i can't help you out there, what i do know is do not try to remove the tweeters, you will end up breaking them

Just enter your vehicle specs and click rear deck. Then look for a speaker with a lot of bass (if you dont know which have bass or not then open a live chat with them, they are very helpful).

are the speakers actually blown? its common for the plastic cone in the middle of the speaker to come un-glued and make the speaker sound all crackly and blown. you can re-glue the cone back down and it sounds like new. But on the other hand, BOSE never really did make a quality car audio system to begin with so I dont blame you for switching them out. I replaced mine with some Infinity reference 6.5" and I enjoyed it. didnt have any bass, but they sounded great and I fixed the bass problem with a type R...

yeah they are blown. I live in Arizona, and i think the heat destroyed these things. They look like they've been shot up with a shotgun haha. I just ordered some Infinitys an hour ago. what type R thing are you talking about?
