2000 a4 1.8 control arms
Just finished this job after MANY hours working alone. There is nothing complicated here, but it is a HARD physically job. I nuked those damn pinch bolts with MAPP gas and was able to beat the SOBs out. Those lower arms connection to the frame are tough - dropping sub frame on both sides, etc. Of course, I was working off of jack stands with no air power, just muscle. BUT, now I don't hear that metal on metal 'clank' when I hit a small bump. I did new wheel bearing, CV joint and boot, rotors and shoes while I was in there. I think I still love my car.......

Yep, I had read about your stainless solution. And, Devil, the car does ride nicely. Odd, I had it up on stands for 4 days and constantly was turning on the power to move the wheel back and forth per need, and now my friggin battery is dead (some times I got involved and left it on longer than I should have). so, I drove around today without radio trying to recharge the battery, thus I could hear NOTHING from the front end. sweet.
I"ve got the radio code but have an air bag module coming in so I'll buy a new battery this week , after at least 7 years of battery life.
