OR, save the labor and do it yourself.
Hell, even if you dont know how to fab, or dont have acsess to do so... You could buy the parts to do it. Go to a junkyard, (unfortunely we see them often here) and get the swap parts needed. You could do this for under 2500 including your motor, if you know how to turn a wrench.

My friend just finished swapping out his none turbo 1.8 A4 with a Turbo lump and his now just fitted a 1.9TDi 6 speed FWD gear box all because he loved his car and because he can. Sometime it not always about the cost, it because we can regardless if it's worth it or not.
Some time I think people should just point out the pro's and con's and let them decide if they want to or not as at the end of the day it's his time and his money.

well, you have to understand that we have no idea what you are exactly trying to accomplish or what your reason would be for doing this. when you ask a blant question, you'll usually get the same with the answers back.
now if you had a goal in mind, or things or ideas you have of why you would like to do this, then you would get a lot more detailed answer.

Keep the 2.8 Trans if you are going to BT the 1.8T engine as it's quite a common up grade for the BT boys.
If you can pick up the whole car for that money then this will be quite a cheap swap as it will have all the parts you need and you will need the clocks too (you may be able to code in your depending on year). You will only have issues if trying to mate none face lift with face lift as the looms changed somewhat.
You will need SMIC (or upgrade to FMIC) suspension (again you can upgrade) think the sub frame is different because the intercooler pipes are integrated in to it but an upgrade to FMIC will get round this.
Oh and you will need the exhaust too.

no you couldn't
Ok.
For 1100 for the motor, there is no doubt in my mind you could get all of the parts to do the swap from a junyard (there are quite a few here) for under 1400.
I can turn a wrench, and have PERSONALLY done swaps far more complex than this on a budget. I have assisted in many off the wall, very technical swaps. All of them were critisized and told would never be on budget. So, I take this comment with a grain of salt. I know it can be done. There is no need for outside resources. If you dont have the confidence and know how, why are you in this business anyhow.
