2.8l 1999 Audi a4 check engine light on runs great though
Hey so I am having a puzzling experience with my new b5 Audi a4.
I bought it used from the original owner who kept it up really well its a 5 speed blue 2.8 5v engine.
Now the issues: the abs light comes on and off intermittently when driving I know that that is the abs modual not really worried since I know it's a big problem with a lot of the audi.
The problem: the check engine light turned on and stays on while driving and will sometimes blink and stay on... Read the codes before I do smog and it says that it is misfiring on almost all the cylinders which is so weird since it is running really well. Not sluggish not vibrating, drives with plenty of power.
What should I do... Tried reseting the codes made sure I have clean 91 fuel and even put a injector cleaner in. Nadda
It's my 1st week owning the car and I can't pass smog with the issue don't wanna even try while the check engine light is on guy at the smog station said it won't pass with the misfire codesz.
Now what should I do mechanics say it could be a lot of problems:
Previous owner had engine rebuilt, new plugs, less then 15k miles ago and timing belt and water pumpndone also tentioners etc.
Could it be the ignition coil pack, or the ignition coils them selves been reading a lot about coil issues with this model so any feedback will help a lot.
