2.8l 12V is moddable!
Please correct me if I'm wrong with any of this...
Possible mods for N/A 2.8L 12V A4's:
MILD:
Remove clutch fan and replace with a secondary electric fan
Short Ram intake
Full exhaust. De-cat? Will need 02 defoulers
Suspension upgrades. Will significantly improve launches
Drivetrain Stabalizer
MODERATE/EXTREME:
Ported throttle body (any machine shop would be happy to help)
Ported/Polished intake manifold
Ported/Polished Exhaust manifold (any machine shop would be happy to help)
3-angle valve job/guides, steam.
Remove AirConditioning
Manifolds port matched to heads
EXTREME/RACE (any machine shop would be happy to help)
Port/Polished heads
Polydyn or Swain ceramic coating on underside of head and valves & top of piston
Polydyn oil dispersant on crank and rods
Balanced lower end
Crower and many other connecting rod companies will one off a set of rods for anyone. Lighter rotating mass = power.
High compression pistons. Balanced.
Custom knife edged crankshaft, balanced aswell.
Always room for custom turbo's a lot of shops through out the US will do custom turbo installs.
Discuss.

There are endless possibilities...at a price.
I've done what i could do to my 12v, and i'm now researching other options of which may take me a different direction than the 12v. the price you pay for the mods listed above aren't going to give you the gain worth the money you paid to do it.
so for me, in a few months=booooooooooooooooosssssssssttttt

10-20hp... if your lucky

Done right it might catch up to a stock 3.2... so maybe 50hp... If it was built to for very high rpm and very high compression you could possibly get 250-275 chp but it would still be close to 160-180 torque
Always room for custom turbo's a lot of shops through out the US will do custom turbo installs.
That could achieve as much hp as you have money but is a one off thing and will bankrupt most.

If I were to do this, I would do a forged crank and dished pistons to drop the compression and supercharge it. (ya, I like chargers over turbos :P) With more valve clearance, I would also up the cams.

Feel better about my 12v. Ha. I don't feel really anything about my 12v other than It gets me to work and back. I'm just tired of people saying that there is NOTHING they can do to it, when they are wrong.
The Audi is just my daily. The motor will never be modded, not even CAI. My non-daily is my GT-S Celica 6 speed. I don't want to take the time to list the mods.

you didnt add nitrous to that list. the fast and the furious put a bad taste in everyones mouth about OMG!NOS!!!! and being too 'ricer' and gay. but the truth is with a built motor a 75, 100 maybe even 150 wet shot is the most power your going to see without paying the 10 grand to big-turbo the car, and if done correctly is not going to blow your engine. hell- even without building your engine you could do a wet 50 shot for not too much money and see a good power gain per dollar.
however any dollar you spend making a 2.8 faster is only going to get you 10% of the power that that dollar could if spent on a 1.8t. thats how it will always be. if that is ok with you then by all means, go for the gold.
