Just bought a MINT 2001 a4 for 600 bucks... has some leaks though... after its hot and you park it smokes really bad from under the coolant jug... sometimes on the passenger side. I suspect on the passenger side the chain tensioner gaskets and seals etc need changed. The driver side is worse though? What could leak oil on the back side of the engine on the driver side? I'm new here so don't know how to attach pictures... but on the drivers side exhaust where the exhaust meets manifold, it's covered on oil. Passenger side is only a little drop or two... please help!!

 

Valve cover gaskets + valley seals + endcap seals area common areas of leaking oil for our 2.8s

Get a new set and put aside a saturday to fix them.

Do you also have oil on the spark plugs? Any misfires?

Obviously keep topping off the oil the correct amount too... Dripping oil on the hot engine is one thing, running without any is another.
