Possible that you have a leaking injector...

would autozone seals/gaskets be a good choice for diagnosing?

Hard to say - I'd rather see you get them from a known VAG supplier like ECS or GermanAutoParts. At least that way, if they're not a fix, you know you have good parts in there and can rest assured that they're good for a long time to come.

so is it as easy as it looks, remove fuel pump fuse, crank car remove battery terminal, then remove the fuel rail?

seems easy, Ill try it out. also does anyone know of a good online source to buy parts?

Far as I can see, yes. Talk to www.ecstuning.com for the parts.

a few more things to add to this.

when you first start the car, its in open mode right? where it ignores sensors and gives the motor whatever to warm it up. then enters closed mode where it responds to sensors input.

when its first started I have the CEL light for the misfire, but idle is fine. but when it warms up the idle gets rough. I noticed that the coolent temp guage isnt responding. i didnt know if the sensor could play a part in this as well.

seems that the misfire is still there but i ran a code scanner and got these 2 codes repeatadly.

p1101 - Bank1 h02's voltage too low/ air leak
p1106 - Bank2 h02's voltage too low/ air leak

then it had a previous code before reset P1602 which i didnt read before i cleared.

any thoughts on that?

car idles norm for a bit then i guess after its heated up it drops to 800 to 975 rpms and idles kind of rough.. I checked all the vacuum hoses and those are all good to go.

Try replacing the coolant temp sensor, those have a tendency to fail on pretty much any car with really strange symptoms. I had a car that ran perfectly at first, then just outright died when it warmed because of a coolant temp sensor.

Default a4 2.8 misfire.

Try starting the car without the spark cable plugged in and see if it feels more rough than before also get your hands on a timming light and check the spark on the number 3 cylinder and see if its firing correctly if its firing like the other ones on that bank then you have good spark. if you unplug you cable and it seems rougher than before then you have intermittent misfire problem. i would then check the compression on all your cylinders just to be safe. Check these things and get back to us.
