Plus he may suffer from heating problems from the manifold being so damn close. But he had the money and the time to monkey around and not to forget, experience under the hood. Something most on this forum don't have to partake in such a big makeover. Its in the VWvortex. If I have time I'll dig up the link but its 2 years old.
No one is saying it can't be done. 5t can, as can almost anything. It's just hella expensive and engine management is a nightmare. There's not really a reason to try and do something the hard way. There's nothing really "different" about a V6 with a pair of turbos in an Audi. If you want that, buy an S4 or swap an S4 engine into it. It's the same end result, but more powerful, less expensive, and custom parts aren't necessary.

Can it be done? Yes. Will it be as simple as throwing on the turbos and manifolds? Absolutely not. The bottom end wil have to be rebuilt with low compression pistons so the motor doesn't explode. You'll also have to get all the supporting piping and tons of other parts, not to mention custom tuning. You could spend less and get an S4 or spend even less and supercharge your car (as long as it's not a 12v).

Like everyone is saying, a turbo 2.8 can be done but it'd be easier and just about the same price to buy an S4. There are a couple of guys around that had a 2.7tt swapped into their car though.
