Default 2.8 trans into a 1.8t

well ive been looking for the answer on how to do this for a long time, searching here and on vortex did nothing. im wondering what kind of modification it takes to replace a 1.8 manual trans with the one from the 2.8. i know i read a long time ago theres some minor modification needed but i want to know what exactly this entails. i would love to have the wider gears of the 2.8.

Its a direct bolt up, if there is a metal shim between the tranny and the engine on the 2.8L don't forget to install that on your 1.8T. Other than that its a direct fit.

Default What about a 6-spd from an S4?

Does anyone have any experience mating a 6-spd from an
S4 with a 1.8T engine?

It is very expensive. You will need to get the S4 rear diff or rear end too and you will need to make a custom driverside mounting bracket since the front sub frame is different on the S4.

As for the 2.8 trans into a 1.8t, both use the exact same 01a bell housing so it is a direct bolt in. You will need to swap the driverside tranny mount and tranny mounting bracket from the 1.8 transmission to the 2.8. The 2.8 uses the same rear diff as the 1.8 so you dont have to do anything there.

For the S4 tranny, you need the tranny, S4 tranny mounts, driveshaft, rear differential, and I think there's a couple more little things.

Thanks everyone. I figured this would be a hassle, since no one ever talks about it....
