2.8 power
#2
Cheap power for an A4 V6 = nitrous. That's basically it. You can get the SpeedTuning chip for about $125-150 and free up some midrange torque, but otherwise you're stuck. There's a million posts about this topic though - the search feature will locate them for ya

They don't exist. Geez, someone really ought to make a 2.8 guide...
I was going to make a 2.8 guide, but then I realized that all it's really gunna say is "Sorry you are SOL!" There haven't been any members who have actually built a 2.8 to handle any decent amount of boost to document. I could copy and paste the 2.8 moding section threads from audiworld, but that is lame. It's not worthwhile for most people to put turbos on a 2.8 because most people will go broke in the process. Those engines werent built for any more boost than what the PES SC blows.

I don't know what is available as far as engine management with full fuel and ignition control as I am just starting to look into audis. This seems to be a stumbling block in many communities. However with some time and research there are some decent 'universal' options that could probably be made to work from AEM, the now defunct gReddy, etc. Plug and play would be nice, flash tuning - cobb style - even better, please feel free to let me know what is available.
But as far as the rest of the system goes, it wouldn't be that expensive. couple,3, 4 grand can usually get a kit together with quality parts. It obviously won't be plug and chug but creating something from the ground up is not terribly difficult if you can assemble the parts and put the car down for a week or so to fit and fab.
Any exhaust shop could make an up pipe that connects the factory exhaust manifolds to where you would place the turbo and a down pipe back to the exhaust, thats not hard. Shouldn't be more than a few hundred bucks.
Assuming the bottom end and the rings would hold it with ~10:1 compression you could pretty safely do ~10psi on pump gas if you can control fuel and spark.
I don't know how robust the fuel pump is and how much extra injector you would need but thats not really anything out of the ordinary to upgrade when going above ~5-8psi, depending on the car.
It's more than some piping here, an intercooler there but if you have any idea what you are doing it shouldn't be too bad. But deff not a n00b job.
If I had any free time at all I could probably do a 8-10psi kit for 5-6k +/- depending on engine management.
What is approximate bhp of a fresh stock 2.8L?

Or sell your 2.8 and get a 1.8 and don't worry about anything internal or fab'd until you reach the 300-350 whp point after about $3k. No one said it's not possible, it just makes no financial sense, and considering the crowd of people who are driving B5s, finances are key. I'd love to see someone build and fab up a monstrous 2.8, but it just plain makes no sense unless you have a hefty mod account. B5's arent worth a whole lot now a days, and even if you do have the money, why would you want to dump $5k+ into one unless it's strictly a track/show car.
