2.7t motor into A4
Okay I'll make it quick.
I have a guy who is willing to sell me his automatic A6 2.7t.
My questions are... will I be able to swap the motor in without having to get special mounts? Will I need a different suspension?
I currently have the 2.8. I was going to take it out and maybe rebuild it but the point is if I can get the car for a good price I'd rather just drop the 2.7 in because it has 66,000 miles on it while mine has 84,000. That may mean nothing depending on how the driver treated his car but the car is wrecked in the back. The bumper is missing and the entire right rear fender needs to be replaced. The front has no structural damage from what I saw. My 2.8 is also an automatic so I figured maybe the swap wouldn't be too much of a problem. I know the 2.7 has two turbos, so I would probably be forced to modify my front end or get the S4 bumper, correct?
I'm not going to sit here and say I'm an expert but I would not be doing this project alone. My father would help me. We've swapped two motors and done other things together so I'm not too worried.
That is why I am here asking; Does it make sense?
I have a feeling I can grab it for less than 5,000.

Is this some magic unicorn-blessed C5 or something? That's more than what any sane person would pay for the cleanest and best maintained 4.2 C5 on the continent, not a totalled 2.7t. Hell even 5k is crazy pills territory, any totalled C5, no matter what condition and mileage won't ever sell for more than 3k around here.

The car wasn't completely totaled. The best way to explain it is.. the car is in good condition, inside and outside, except for the passenger side rear. The car was hit by another car while it was parked.
The mechanic has an s-line A6 in his yard. All he needed was a good motor. This one was also an s-line, for what its worth.
I do agree though.. 10,000 is way too much. 5,000 was my max.

I use the guideline of less than 12,000 miles per year as being "low mileage" but there are many right around the 100k mark in New England.
Its an Auto but....
2001 Audi B5 S4 Twin Turbo Low Miles!!
This one I like...150k miles but all stock and clean...
2001 Audi S4 in Excellent Condition
Another Auto but 121k on the odo....
2000 Audi S4 turbo
To name a few...
