Hi guys i've just bought a 2000 A4 Advant estate 6sp (manual) Quattro with 98k miles. People have told me they are not a good engine and that i would have been better with a 1.9 as it would outlast the 2.5. Anyone got a 2.5 or had one, need advice

If you do proper maintenance, and checks, along with replacing worn out parts before they go bad, Audi's will last forever. and with 98k, that Audi is almost brand new, TLC man, treat her right, and she will roar, as well as fight for you in bad weather. (previous owner of a 2.8L A4, 201k miles, and was running strong, that is, before i got hit a while back). I'm planning on getting a 2.5 here in about a week, everything i've seen from these cars would prove that it's a great engine, and my german friend said it was a great workhorse of a car. the only thing i noticed is that the turbo uses thrust bearings instead of ball, so it might wear out faster if you have a tendency to put the petal to the metal, and shift high in the RPM's
