1999 A4 Bose System
I have two questions...
1.) i replaced my head unit with a pioneer and am getting a loud hiss in the speakers...
2.) i think replacing the factory bose amp would fix this, so is it possible to hook up the bose speakers with an aftermarket amp? and where is the factory bose amp located....?
thank ahead of time for ideas and input...

Yes, agreed. I believe bose might not "like" your new head unit. I might go for a replacement all the way around. For a nice boom that won't break the wallet, I recommend Sony Xplod, but you might also consider traditional yet power pioneer speakers. Either way, I would replace everything to avoid future compatibility issues when upgrading the head unit again.

No, please do not go Sony speakers. If you would give a budget, I will recommend you something better. Sony speakers/subwoofers are AWFUL, even for being inexpensive. Pioneer has some cheap and decent speakers and some good and expensive speakers.
Whatever you do, get 2-way (component or coaxial - component being much better) speakers, not 3-way (unless you get a high-end 3-way component set which would be expensive and need a custom install), and especially not 4/5 way. 2-way components up front and 2-way coaxials in the back is common.

I already have the head-unit- i already have the 5- channel amp from kicker- and a kicker subwoofer-
I think I will probably just stick with kicker all the way around?
The front doors have 5 1/4 Woofers with a Tweeter up top right?
I don't know what the back doors are - or the rear????
Or were the Amp is.... Does anyone know where the bose amp is located?

No, the stock speakers aren't 5 1/4" in the front. They're 4" or 4 1/2". I'd take Kicker speakers over Sony. Don't feel the need to go all one brand, though. Doing that is not beneficial at all.
I think you can somewhat fit a 5 1/4" speaker if you do some not too difficult custom work though the grill isn't going to be quite as big as the speaker so you will get some reflections between the door and the speaker cone. If you try it, make sure to get a paper-coned speaker as these reflections will make poly (plastic) and metal speakers sound much worse. (It will negatively affect paper as well but at least paper doesn't ring like poly and metal do.) 4" component systems are pretty hard to find. I'd probably make my own.
My car doesn't have Blose so I can't help you there.
