1999.5 A4 rough, high idle
After looking at countless forums and replies I gave in to ask you guys for some help... so heres the problem, all of a sudden the car started revving itself while idling up to about 2500rpm up and down up and down to about 1500rpm.. I also have a CEL (Check Engine Light) and i don't remember the code it threw but i remember it being something about it running to lean.. when i fuel up it also takes extra cranks to get it to start and i have to floor the gas to get it started. once started it idles real rough for about 30 seconds then goes back to normal.
I checked all the hoses and found no leaks...
cleaned the air filter so its not clogged...
the maf (mass air flow sensor) is new, and when i disconnect it it the car idles rough so the maf is good.
I cleaned the TB (Throttle Body) so theres no more carbon buildup or gunk on it, didn't change anything.
so i read somewhere that it could be bad checkvalves but which ones should i check and how do i check them?
the evap purge valve gave me a reading of 27 ohms when i checked it so its within the 25-30 threshold. it also clicks but its on and off.. is it supposed to click all the time? continuously?
another post says it could be the PCV valve (positive crankcase ventilation) but how can i check that?
in any case, thanks in advance for all and any replies. hope I can get this fixed ASAP!
