Default 1999.5 a4 2.8 quattro & '05 passat 2.8 glx 4mo

I'm familiar with working on the drivetrain/engine of the a4. I'm wondering if the engine and drivetrain of the Passat and my former a4 are almost if not identical.

If not identical what should I look out for?

Thanks!

they are about as identical as they can be. pretty much all drivetrain parts are the same. there will be minor differences in the engine vacuum tubing and such, but most of it will be the same. Passat's are the audis of volkswagon, like a3's are the volkswagon of audis

An ATQ is just an AHA with drive by wire. I know, because I bought an ATQ out of an Audi and put in a Passat that was made for an AHA. All I had to do was swap the throttle body and a couple other parts.

The A4 and Passat use both engines, just depends on the year.

I cant lie.. a 4 wheel drive Passat with a 2.8 equipped with a nice exhaust is definitely sexy.

I know it's not really related, but I have to ask. Why did VW even bother with the W8 in the Passat, if it produces "roughly" the same power as the 2.7TT?
