Lightbulb 1998 Audi 2.8L v6 5speed Build?

So I recently acquired a 1998 Audi A4 2.8L v6 5speed, BUT it needs a clutch and alternator. I plan on building this engine and I'm wondering where to start... this car may become a weekend warrior or a half daily driver. Basically I have a stock 2.8L v6 and I wanna turn it in to a powerhouse. Any ideas on clutches/flywheels turbos, lowering springs (nothing more than a 1.5 inch drop) cooling systems, inner coolers, ect. Car does not have to be done in a time frame, as I have a daily driver.

After parts are recommended, and when I get the money for them. I will post pictures of the build.

Thanks for looking

Did you try google? Plenty of people have talked big about making power with the 30v but nobody actually went through with it because it's just a stupid decision overall when you can buy a 2.7t for $1.5k that will handle more power than a 2.8 with $5k+ sunk into it.

any idea where i can grab a 2.7T? and does it just "plug" in or does modifications to cpus and mounts have to be taken into consideration? still need a clutch kit/flywheel

Of course it won't just drop in - physically it pretty much will, but the computer is different, exhaust is different, involves mounting intercoolers and piping, wiring harness is different, etc etc etc...

If you want a boosted car, sell the 2.8 and buy a boosted car. S4s and 1.8Ts are cheap now - you'll spend more and **** away a ton of labor swapping the engine into a 2.8 shell than you will by just buying the S4 or 1.8T. And in the case of the S4 you'll get more sport-oriented suspension, bigger brakes, beefier tierod ends, a 6-speed, better seats...

With B5 prices where they are, it makes no sense to buy one and then start planning to swap the engine when the cars are available with those other engines already. The only engine swaps that would be worth it at this point would be a VR-T or a 4.2L. For the others, just sell the car and get one with your engine of choice.

As others have said, you'll spend less money and time by just buying an S4. If you have the time and want to tinker, the most readily available source for a 2.7T is from a C5 A6. Your best bet would be to find an A6 that has been wrecked (motor okay) and swap everything over. From the firewall forward the A6 is identical to the A4. Since your car is pre-facelift, you would want to find a DBC 2.7T. There is a lot of blood and sweat that goes into running a DBW engine in a DBC chassis.

I don't think there's such thing as a DBC 2.7t, even the earliest Euro S4's were DBW back in like '99. A C5 parts car will probably have 95% what you need to do the swap.

so would you all recommend that I make the v6 the daily driver and I build the 1.8L instead?

Yes. Daily the relatively trouble-free 2.8 and put $4000 into the 150hp 1.8T. You'll have a reliable DD and a 300+hp 1.8 for fun.

Daily the 1.8T and put $4000 into the 190hp 2.8 and you'll have a slow DD and a 195hp V6 project car lol. (You could have more hp than that in the 2.8 but the point is the 1.8 is very tunable. The V6 is not.)

I thought I remembered seeing something about DBC S4 when I was searching for diagrams during my engine swap, but that could be totally wrong. I'll defer to your expertise in that area.
