Default 1997 Audi A4 2.8l v6 heat is not working good

When i got this car i knew it was going to be a project. I've learned a lot about this car and the only thing i haven't fixed in the heating. When i first got the car I changed most of the fluids (oil, transmission, G12 coolant). When i changed the coolant i flushed the radiator and the heater core 5 to 10 times. I even soaked the heater core with CLR like most of the posts say to do. I put the lines back on and bled the system. (with the left hose on the heater core next to battery). The heat worked for a little while but it never got real warm (even at high RPMS), so i tried to bled it another way (by lifting the expansion tank up and running in while periodically taking the cap off of the tank to release pressure. This worked for a about a week but the heat was still not warm. The thermostat is working fine and the water pump is also working like its suppose to. When i was replacing the valve cover gaskets and the rear cam shaft seals i went ahead and did a pressure test on the coolant system, because i noticed coolant dripping off the rear of the oil pan, and the system held pressure for 15 mins or so.

I'm not sure what to do at this point so please help..

Another question, i have 233 thousand miles on the car and it runs great but i noticed a few odd things so i was wondering if there was any way to tell if the motor was swapped or not?
thanks, anything can help.

sounds like a bad heater core. you soaked it, did any crap come out of it? rust/sludge?

The heat has never worked while i have owned it (6 months now). when i got it it had the wrong coolant in it and i don't recall any bubbling when i was cleaning it. all i saw was the CLR solution bubbling up.

I broke down and did my heater core last summer. God am I glad I did. That car hasn't been this warm in years. Take a look at my thread. See all the flushing I did, then look at how clogged the heater core was when I finally removed it on page 2.

Wow! You are way faster than I am. I think you're going to be much warmer.
