1996 Audi A4 2.8L Quattro transmittion problems
Hey guys, I'm having trouble with my 1996 a4 i recently bought it from an auction for a great deal. turns out it was driven into a ditch or something like that from the previous owner.
Anyways the tranny goes into Reverse and 1st gear no problem manually. or R and 2 on the shifter, although there is a slight delay. When it comes to D,3,and 4 it does nothing. Theres no attempt to change gears from a complete stop otherthan R and 2,
When you drive the car in 1st gear it will shift into 2nd gear at the right RPM sometimes, when the car is moving you can move the shifter into the D position and you have power momentarily, otherwise nothing.
Any ideas what this could be, I literally owned the car for all of a few days and am not too sure what to doo..
Thanks

Your transmission is shot. It is an expensive fix, so either go on the forums and look for a transmission or go to the junk yard if you want to save some money. Or just sell it. Just my opinions however.
It will be hard finding a 96 transmission since 98+ were all tiptronic. Good luck!
