That's what I'm thinking.

As far as price, I'm not seeing much under $5k with less than 100k miles on it (locally, anyway). Most listings for around $6000 have in excess of 130k on them.

We'll see how low he'll go. Hopefully I can get ahold of him tomorrow.

I agree, if your heart is set on the car then $6000 with the tb done is not a bad deal. If you want to get a good deal on an A4 then $6000 can get you a rather nice 98+ 2.8 with low miles, but you may have to look around a bit. I don't know if the prices of Audi's are below blue book because of the economy or if it is just a bad time of year but kbb has Audi priced much higher than what I see them selling for.

What do you consider low miles? I've got a +100k phobia.

I have seen a few 98+ in my area with around 85,000 miles for $6000

Huh. Maybe I should expand my search radius. It might be worth a plane ticket.

Hi, just for frame of reference, I bought my 96 5spd A4 2.8 12V with 83k miles and the timing belt done at 70k for $5k even. It even had a few upgrades like a set of Bilsteins, H&Rs, and a Supersprint exhaust. And believe it or not, I found this on Ebay. I just saw another 96 A4 2.8 with 78k miles that was donated to a church and put up for auction sell for $3500. Granted it had no service records and a few rips on the interior, but it had a clear CA title and appeared solid. So, my suggestion is to check ebay and if you see something that really catches your eye and might be worth taking a trip for, then go for it.

Well, the the author removed the listing without responding to me, so the search continues... I'll have a look around eBay, I guess.

Default I have a 96 A4 2.8Q 12V car with miles

I have a 96 just as you are looking at. I bought mine for 3500 with 180K on it Dont trip yet. It also had coilovers, crossdrilled rotors, Enki wheels and Toyo tires and an exaust. It had also just had the clutch, waterpump, TB, tensionerand idlers replaced and all. It runs like a champ now has over 222K on it and still runs like a champ. You can get lots of miles out of them with just routine maitnance. It dose have less power than my 98 but like the guy said its like apples and oranges. But good daily drivers

Yeah, a daily driver is what I'm looking for. Unfortunately I'm having a hard time being patient since the passing away of my 99, and am currently carless, but I suppose I'll manage so long as I can get my hands on one before the snow starts to fall. I can live with the 12v downgrade if I find one in good condition, since I don't really have the time or resources to trick one out at the moment. Though I did just come across a 99 2.8 with 104k for about $5000 which has allegedly been well maintained... but there was mention of a small electronic glitch. Gonna try to take a look at it when the seller is back in town.
