Default 1996 A4 AC HELP!!

Ok got a 96 A4 2.8 FWD, and I cannot find the low port to recharge the AC for the life of me. Anyone have any clue how I can do it myself? Really dont wanna take it to a shop. Ive located the high port, but not the low one. Ive also heard that the 96 dont have a low port is this true? Thanx in advance.

That's true. Charge only at a dealer or properly equipped AC shop.

I have heard of a port on the back of the compressor. Make sure its on the evaporator side so you know its the low side.

Yeah if you do a search, i think there might ahve been one year that had it maybe it was like 97 or something and it was located in a weird location. Yours doesnt have one i dont think though, this has been asked like a million times and no one has found one i dont think, someone might have said there was one in the passenger compartment under the dash but do a search.

You can only access the low port by using a special adapter on the a/c compressor, or the a/c switch. The dealer is gonna have to work on it.

whats teh OEM number on that special adapter i may need it if i end up buying another 12v. otherwise a cheap but somewhat risky thing to do is use a rethreader on the A/C switch and put on a GM R-134a fitting, and then close the circuit on the switch with a staple. its worked for me on both my 12v.
