I have some history with wrx's and a fairly common turbo upgrade was the 16g turbo charger. I am wondering if that would be suitable for the 1.8t on the 2000-2001 a4 on stock internals and fueling with proper tuning. I am looking for some suggestions on turbo chargers and reading info. I am having trouble finding turbo upgrade information on these forums and am trying to read as much as possible before anything is decided. Thanks.

unless you have the 16g lying around, i wouldn't use it

 

Probably the closest Audi equivalent to the 16g DSM/Scooby upgrade would be a K04 turbo, but honestly, you might as well spend a few more dollars and make a more significant difference in your output with a turbo of more capacity than a K04.

 

How so? The ko4 wont make much over 200whp and thats beyond pushed and the 16g had more than made over 300awhp time and time again.

But yes, waste unless you just REALLY want to make your own manifold and downpipe

My only point of the comparison really was that whereas the standard basic turbo upgrade for DSMs was the 16g, and for the Audi it was the K04. I know the 16g can make quite a bit of power (although I wasn't aware it made 300awhp), and obviously a lot more than a K04.
