10% ethanol gas... Is it bad for our cars?
Many of you probably noticed some gas stations mix gas with 10%or less ethanol. Currently law makers propose to increase it to 20%. How bad is it for our engines? 1.8t does require a good quality gas, so would the ethanol decrease the engine life? If so what additives can be added to this mix to help. I put mystery oil from time to time in a gas tank.
Or should we just avoid ethanol mix at all cost?

Ethanol is just a band-aid. It's less efficient and more expensive to produce. Certain cars may need a remap for the ECM for E20 over E10, but I would think most cars wouldn't be too affected other than a decrease in MPGs.

The ecu can adapt to keep it stoich. If it was more expensive, than it wouldnt be slightly cheaper to run E85 even with it needing 30% more fuel. Plus it being 105oct makes the car more powerful aswell when tuned for it

Ethanol essentially comes from corn, which creates jobs for American farm workers, but it's costlier to produce Ethanol than it is gasoline. E85 has been around for years, but it's only recently catching on. It can decrease the foreign oil demand, but it won't be any cheaper than regular E10 gasoline.
In addition, a big reason E85 isn't a higher content of Ethanol is due to safety issues... Ethanol burns clear. Gasoline adds color to the flame.
Our cars can run on Ethanol, but a remap might be a good idea to retune the ECM not just for performance, but to offset the MPG reduction.

Yes, ethenol is a fermented corn product. You dont need a total remap for e85, just larger injectors and lemmi tweeks. There are a few that have done this already and with great results

so with tunning would you just opt for 100 oct tunnig of say giac or apr, do bigger injectors and fuel tweek increase load to over 100% or change primary fule tweek
