Whenever I step on the gas and I'm driving, I hear this weird whiny sound.
Sound gets louder according to how hard I press on it etc.
What is this all about?

 

before you get flamed to death I would ask how long the sound has been there, if itsa new sound it could be a problem.

Also.....you drive a turbo.......That should be enough said.



If you want to verify that is it the turbo just open the hood listend near the front passenger side and see if you hear the sound.

 

could be a belt, not to mention you can not hear a turbo in a stock car.

 

My hearing is damaged but its not that bad lol. You can especialy hear it if you spash shied on the bottom is off. I dunno, How many K's are on your that you can't hear it?

 

The sound has definitely been there for a while now. (maybe a couple months?)
But I was curious because I never heard that sound before when I had bought the car about a year ago...
Nothing to worry about then?

 

could be your turbo doing out, possibly dv, if it's coming from the rear it's the fuel pump.

 

if it's a winding type sound then it's your turbo spinning, common thing to hear when you gas it

 

I had a weird whinny noise also, it turned out to be a power steering leak on one of the hoses.

 

I got my power steering fluid flushed today so I'll check to see if the noise is still there tomorrow.

 

Well, my dad drives a jetta 1.8t and it does the winnig noise too, it's the turbo. i have a 2.8 on the other hand and make a horrible likesupercharger sound whenever you gas it, it does it very loud in 2nd, but it does it more quietly in 4th...i don't know what it could be? ca anyone help me? has this ever happened to anyone?
