see, i dont think ppl are really worried aboutthe engine bay as much. only my friends will see that, as opposed to something blatently obvious on the exterior of the car

The 1.8 is just so cluttered for me. And I cant afford a tuck so I thought I'd bring some sense and order in by painting/polishing to create a unified look.
But I'm struggling to wrangle in a vision.

So today I think I'll just wash the car really well and look into Emil's grill mod. I hear you did it too, any big snags?

The biggest detraction from the look of the 1.8t engine bay for me, is all of the hoses etc. Most of it is used for emissions control and is not necessary. But you cant really modify that without causing a CEL.

kayakman - have you decided on what to do with your brake upgrade?

Haha, well since it requires 16" wheels and I'm sittin on 15s. Its going to have to wait awhile. But not too long. Previous owner neglected to change the front rotors out and my mechanic said they needed to be changed when the pads were done. I guess the guy wanted to just sell the car. Pads are pretty fresh and so are my 15" tires so I guess I just start saving.

I hate the hoses myself. If I find some spare time maybe I'll sit down with some buddies and try to plan some tucking. Mainly its those few that run right off the fuel rail, I want to flip the rail upside down or something! And the few over by the airbox!

Dear god, look at all the covers! I want those covers! Are they 97 specific or could I fit them on my 98?
