1.8T chip ECU re-installation probs please help
Hey guys.
I recently had my ECU chipped by APR, but when i re-installed the ECU i noticed no increased power or torque. I took the car to my mechanic thinking it could be a fault in the system and had him check for fault codes. he said something about a code relating to the throttle sensor.
When driving the car if i put my foot down the car will splutter (really badly, and it won't stop spluttering until i lift off and try again)
So far i have tried:
reinstalling the ECU
disconnecting battery, install ECU then reconnect battery
install ecu while the battery is connected.
All of these things have not helped.
The car was fine before i had it chipped.
Please help me with this my mechanic can't see the car for 2 weeks he's too busy.
Thanks

Hi
Sorry i don't have the fault code, and i don't know the boost level (i dont have a boost guage) but there is hardly any boost at all.
Sorry for the lack of information. I just thought maybe there was some quick fix or that this was a common problem with chipping turbos
Thanks

Just sounds like you did not do a throttle adapt once you put the ECU back in.
You need to take the ecu back out, wait about 10 minutes and then put it back in. After you put it back in turn the key to the On Position and wait 30 seconds. Turn the key off and then start the car.

Hi
The fault codes is P1545, which is associated with the throttle and throttle body.
I have read forums of many different techniques to do a throttle body adaption. If anyone knows how i can clear the code and do a throttle body adaption it would help me very much.
Thanks again

^^^what he said. Battery disconnect for an hour, reconnect, turn key on, listen for high pitch hum. When it stops, the TB is adapted. At this point you can fire up the car if:
- you have new plugs capped to .028", down from the stock .032"
- you have an upgraded DV, either an OEM S4 or TT225 valve, or an aftermarket valve like a Forge 007 or splitter.
Without those supporting changes, your chip mod is useless.
