Question 01 s4 gauge cluster swap to a 99.5 2.8...

Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone knows if this will just be plug and play? Its coming out of a 01 s4, tip.. Going into a 99.5 2.8 tip car. I know it would have to be vag'd to work in a 1.8, but what about a 30 valve? Really want this to work correctly. The gray gauge faces will look great in my silver on gray avant, plus my center display l.e.d.'s are pretty much useless at this point.

Thanks in advance for any insight on this

Only downside I see in this is that my car has 111k but the cluster is reads about 123k

The 99.5 cluster connections on the back I think are the same as 00/01 a4/s4 except for the clock and date. This might help you. If it were easily done, if doable at all, this would be a popular modification, which it's not.

Thanks for the info and link.
im getting a pretty good deal on the cluster (145 shipped with an o.e.m. S4 grill also), so I'll give it a go and see what happens. Do you know if I will screw anything up by trying this out? Because if im going to have problems with the a4 cluster after taking it out and reinstalling, I wont even waste my time or retaining clips (im bound to break atleast one)
