Default 01 a4 1.8t HID headlights

I want to install some HID headlights in my 2001 A4 1.8t, but i was told that installing them might trigger some lights on the dash. does anyone have any advice on that and what are some good yet cheap ones i can purchase that wouldn't affect it?

I'm unaware of that issue. I have a kit from vvme.com on my 99.5 with no lights on the gauge cluster

It's an issue for the B6, not the B5.

Don't bother with high beam hids unless you drive with your high beams on a lot. They take time to warm up to full brightness so it's pointless if you only use them to flash people. But your question was about how many you need so, one kit comes with 2 bulbs and 2 ballasts. If you wanted to do your highs lows and fogs you'd need 3 kits

They're H7. Yes, you can buy two pairs and have HID headlights and fog lights.

I would suggest not getting anything higher than 6000k. The light output is exponentially less after 6000k. I have 8000k and they do okay, but they are not close to how bright they should be. I'll be getting 4300k next.
