Hey guys im new here my names rob...i am a vdub and bmw guy but i am in the middle of purchasing a 2000 audi tt quattro.. I was wondering tho if i am going to be upgrading parts does it really matter if i get the 180 hp or the 225 hp? i would probably gbe upgrading the turbo, exhaust, etc.

 

yes def does, the 225 comes with a bigger KO4 turbo, the 180 comes with a KO3, the 225 also comes stock with dual intercoolers, 6 speed , there are also other areas where the 225 is better thant he 180

 

what about interior/exterior wise?

 

225 has k04 turbo, duel side mount intercoolers, 3" maf, larger injectors, 6-speed, and a few other minor things

 

what about insurance costs?? in the UK they wouldn't insure you

yea it matters.... the 225 has better internals so its going to take thepower better overall.... what mods are you looking to do? most ppl chip intake and blah blah blah..... unless youre redoing everything building the engine getting a mammoth turbo then it doesnt matter as much but youll still only have a 5 speed instead of a 6 speed .....so yea it matters either way you look at it

 

I've got a 180 TTQC that I am totally happy with. Yes, it doesn't have quite the strength of the internals as the 225, but unless you are going to put in a Stage 3 turbo, it really doesn't matter.

With the exception of the turbo, SMIC, exhaust, 6 speed and engine interals the both cars are identical in every other aspect. Interior/exterior packages are identical.

Most of the 225 owners are compensating for shortcomings in other areas IMHO
