What's the best clutch!
I'm replacing my clutch as I have 109k and my throwout bearing is dying (confirmed by 2 shops). What brand is best?
There are various brands available such as Valeo, sachs, Exedy, Beck Arnley, Luk, and Luk Gold Performance. Has anyone used any of these? I had an Exedy clutch installed on my old 240sx and it was not very good so they are out of the question.
I own a 2002 Audi TT 225 Quattro with the following mods:
APR Chip, DV valve, and Intake Pipe
APR Exhaust system.
Custorm Downpipe.
I probably have about 265-270 crank hp and have no plans for a StageIII kit or anything like that so I don't want to get a super duty ceramic clutch as thos typically don't drive very well. Instead I plan to use a stock or ever so slightly better than stock clutch.
If anyone has used any of these brands feedback would be greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone has upgraded to a lightweight flywheel what are your expierences and was it worth the money.

yup i just replaced mine with an oem clutch, tob, and flywheel. It was a cheap fix... I can always go back and do it again with a better clutch if i need to.

Yes. I'll be going OEM/slightly better than OEM. I don't have enough horespower to warrant the price of a heavy duty ceramic disc. Plus they tend to be more difficult and harsher driving around town.
My clutch is not bad and grips perfectly fine at 109k and if I put it in gear at a stop and release my foot it stalls at only about 1/4th the way up. Thus I think an OEM seems to be plenty. The TOB bearing is dying so I am just being proactive since I have to pay someone to remove the entire tranny from the car and reinstall it I might as well get the whole job done right. I've found that a typical clutch on a sports car tends to last between 125-150k I might as well do it now.
