I have an 01 tt180q and im throwing codes so i need to get a vag.... question is though what version do i need and what are the differences between them... i keep seeing them with software for like 30 bux on ebay but i have a feeling that isnt it for some reason... Also ive heard of a lemmingwinks or something like that. is that more a tuning thing?

 

you'll either want a key-com or key-usb interface (9 pin connection for your computer, or USB). I'd suggest paying for the real thing, you'll have product support, updates, etc. If you buy a generic cable, the newest program from ross-tech you can run on it is something like 2 years old.
Lemmiwinks is a tuning program, that you can use in conjunction with vag-com.

Its possible to tweak some of the programming of the car, but I wouldn't worry about it just yet.

Now I heard that Lemmiwinks will not work with a USB, you have to either get a usb adapter for like PDA's and then its hit and miss, or have they re-done their software so that it will work with the KEY USB cable now?

 

i think the main problem was those using ebay cables. there are some ways around that by pulling fuses and some other little tricks you can find in the vagcom section on vortex.
