so this is what the vag-com found. i'm guessing plugs or coil packs need to be changed. the car is a 2001 180q with ~60,000 mi. plugs were changed at 40k. i don't know if the coil packs have ever been changed out. what do you guys think? thanks.

another note, i told the tech that i needed to come in pretty soon to get my timing belt service done and he said that it really didn't need to be done for another 10k mi. which would put me at 70k. what's up with that???

 

Looks like you need a tune-up. I think I remeber reading somewhere that some coil packs were known to misfire you can get the new ones off of ecs.

 

do u feel a difference when you need a tune??my car feels fine and i never gave a tune up to my car.....

 

my maf is dying and its caused that a couple times i unplugged it and they never came back... the car "could have" had a hickup one time but id clear them if they come back then you defo need some tuning up... at 60k though neways its time to give it a good run through everything

 

It's not going to hurt anything except your wallet to change the timing belt/waterpump @ 60k as opposed to 70k, they have went as soon as 40k- mine was done @ 90k and i consider myself lucky

 

i need to order coil packs and ecs is out. are there any other good sources for the hitachis? i found the berus but i've heard bad things about them. thanks.
