Weird Tail Light Problem

Weird Tail Light Problem
My wife has a 2004 Audi TT Convertible and the right-side tail lights just quit working (all three of them). I checked the bulbs and they looked iffy so I replaced them all... still no working lights.
Now this is how it gets weird. I figured, okay there is a fuse for the right side and its out... I find and check the 5 amp fuze and its good. I swap it with the other side and confirm they are the right fuzes by removing the 'good- side' fuze and confirming it does cause the tail lights to go out.
So, I think to myself... is it the assembly or wiring, or what? I plug the 'bad' right-side assembly into the left side and it works. I plug the 'good' left-side assembly in to the right-side plug and it does not work. So it is definitely not the tail light assembly or any bulb issues.
Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Is it possible that dang emergency flasher assembly could cause this (I know it caused weird turn signal problems for me before).
Is there another relay or fuze or something that could be the culprit? I just am really skeptical that it is the wiring. Any feedback I get would be nice. Hopefully, someone had this happen to them before and has an idea.
Thanks

MK1: I had this problem, and it was the headlight switch
Right side tail light worked fine, left side no tail lights. Bulbs OK, ground OK, fuses OK. No power to the hot side of the tail light fuse. The headlight switch has two separate circuits, one for each side. One side wasn't working. I should get a new switch, but in the mean time I soldered a wire between the two circuits on the connector.
