Ugly as sin but...
It looks like Chevy has stepped it up with the new...ugh, aw geez...2008 CobaltSS. It actually has some impressive numbers, it's got 4 piston Brembos and an A-pillar boost gauge to boot. They dropped the S/C and threw in a BW twin-scroll turbo (almost 21psi) pumping out 260hp/260lb tq. Not too bad!
Wow they are throwing this Ecotec engine in everything these days from the Solstice/Sky, HHRto the Ariel Atom and now the Cobalt SS. Not my cup of tea but a cheap good performer none the less. I am sure you are gonna start seeing the kiddies driving these around town. Be careful because they could whoop your ***. I am sure these things could make 300Hp easily. Looks like the American market is finally getting better and taking notes from their import competitiors in the compact sport market. Now if they would only work on their styling.

I have seen that also. They are coming for us turbo cars now. You have to take into account that if its running 21psi already, that turbo most likely doesnt have much more left in it. Also i noticed that the 260hp was at like 5600rpms with a 6200 redline. So they may be limited on turbo sizing if they cant rev past 6500rpms at only 2L. But the bright side was it had its 260ftlbs at 2k+ but that means that turbo is small and again, doesnt have much left in it. But with a free flowing exhaust and some more boost and timing it should see 300hp, but not much more with a stock turbo. Think the 2.0T will still take it without to much trouble when looking for more power.
One last thing, think they weighed in at 3k lbs +/-. Cant wait to come across one on the street or atleast test drive one for a comparisson.

Reading a little more into it they said that the car can make the same power at 13psi. The jump to 21 is for those hot days. Check this out.
"GMPD took an innovative approach to the gutsy four-cylinder. Instead of tuning to a prescribed boost level, the ECU targets a constant torque number using a variable boost strategy. Ambient air temperature and absolute air pressure are two of the main tuning parameters. So on a cool night with dense air the turbo may only need to produce 13 psi to hit the mark. But on a hot summer day it will unleash up to 21 psi in its efforts to deliver the goods."

Im not scared. My car will be very light and after seeing a 2.0 running a 35r, i think i might have to get one.
All i can say is 10psi by 3500 and 20+ at ~4100rpms. With a 8k rev limit, i think i will have more problem with tires than one of these. [8D]

If only I made the same kind of power at 10psi lol that would be quite a thrill seeing as I make 10psi around 1900 rpm lol.

BTW, that was on a car with a tube manifold and .25 lower compression than me. I would love to seewhat the pag 35r tial setup would do. My guess would be another 200-300rpm faster spool
You see 10psi by 1900rpms, i bet my ko3s will spool at idle [8D]
