Default tt tire wear

I have a 2001 tt 225 coupe with about 105k miles. The right rear tire wears twice as fast as the left rear and the fronts hardly wear at all. I've had the alignment done and rechecked occassionally. What's going on? Is this normal? Can I replace just the worn tire or do I have to replace all four?

If you buy from tirerack you can purchase just 1 that is shaved down to match the others.

take it to another alignment place for free alignment check, if your car is lowered, you might need to get the right specs. most likely if its uneven /feathered like wearing, it might be your toes, if its even then it might be your cambers. im not sure if the cambers are adjustable on tt, im new to tt and im getting one this wk or so. im an alignment tech.

How would I go about telling Tire Rack how much to shave? And any ideas why the backs wear faster than the fronts?

alignment checks are free but to perfrom the actual alignment would cost you, im nost sure how much, we usually charged around $79-100. most likely if it is your cambers on the rear or toes.

I have the same exact problem...For now, I just keep replacing the rears with used ones I find on craigslist and when the insides wear out, I switch the right rear tire to the left side and vice versa. I've been to several alignment shops and everyone ALWAYS tell me the same thing..
"Take it to the dealer"

I haven't had a chance to go by the dealer but there's a VW dealer by my job and they turned me down too. [:@]
