RE: TT Instrument Cluster Class Action Settlement
My fuel tank is empty @ 1/4 tank too... just started doing it.
Crazy thing is I was going to get gas. I left my office, stop at a busy intersection and when I make the right hand turn, my car starts to stutter. The last thing I needed to have happen was me run out of gas on a blind curve with no shoulder. Luckily, I made it over the hill, left at the stop light, illegal left hand turn, down about 1/4 mile to another illegal left hand turn into the gas station. It said I put 17.05 gallons in my car. YIKES!

I have an '00 TT. The cluster started going very dim then it would go out completely. After a while, it never came back on. I took veh to Audi dlr where purchased. Advised that cluster is bad and needs to be replaced. Service tech also advised that this is a knowndefect but was not authorized to do repair at no cost. I called AOA, pleaded, argued, and tried to reason with them for this $830 repair. They would not replace it. So. I paid. This was Oct 2004 with 43K miles. I am from Dallas but moved to CA. I called my dlr in Dallas, spoke to my regular serv rep. She remembered the whole ordeal and provided me with the repair order by sending it in the mail 3 days later. I just sent all the info to the settlement address by certified mail with return receipt. My claim was received and signed for on Apr 3rd. Now, I guess it is just a waiting game.
Good luck everybody !

I'm in exactly the same boat. 2001 TTQC 180, put in service in October 2000. I bought it April 2007 and saw sporadic failures, but the gauges didn't go completely bad untillate 2007.My 3rd party extended warranty won't cover it, either. I guess I'm going to contest the settlement and see what happens. What are your thoughts?

Called local dealer last week and scheduled a dropoff for yesterday. When I called I told them that it was for the instrument panel cluster recall and they seemed to know what I was talking about. Gave them my pertinent info (I'd never been to this dealer before... Audi badge was sold to them a few years ago and I had no desire to deal with their predecessor, who was known for **** work, returning cars dirty, and returning cars with LOTS more miles than they were dropped off with, instead opting to have warranty/prepaid work done when I was visiting Dallas, Houston or San Antonio, not that Dallas was any better, "fixing" my misaligned window to let in more noise and water than ever before and "repairing" a punctured tire without removing it from the rim... those little repairs ended up costing me $400 to fix again.)
Today I got a call back from my service manager saying that she didn't understand how my complaint fit in with the cluster settlement. She said everything they'd seen from Audi was related to the LED display panel, not the actual gauges.
I have since directed her to www.instrumentclustersettlement.com, which specifically refers to "premature failure (e.g., gauges such as the fuel gauge and the speedometer giving false readings)." Nowhere can I find any reference to the LED display in the settlement documents -- sparse as they are. I pointed out further that I had already submitted and been approved for my claim based solely on the fuel gauge (the temp gauge did not go out until this year, well outside the 6-year window).
I remember exactly when I first noticed my fuel gauge out: October 2003. I was on my way down to Houston for a weekend of a charity golf tournament and football game. Though my fuel light came on, I was still at ~1/4 tank, so I wasn't too worried. Then I ran out of gas.
When I took it in for scheduled maintenance in January, I told my mechanic about it (thankfully he put it on my repair order, otherwise I would have been screwed). He told me he had just had another one in with the same complaint and had to replace the entire cluster and that it ran ~$1600 all-in. He understood completely when I said, "well, since the low fuel light still works, I think I'm good."
I'll update when I hear back. So far it's usual dealership run-around BS (but they are doing a recall timing belt inspection).

In the mail today, I got my formal reply from Instrument Cluster Settlement Administrator. I have a 2001 225Q. I sent in the paperwork in March (with prior documentation from an Audi dealer stating the cluster needed replacement at the 60K maintenance). This notice was from the previous owner and I had the receipt. He elected not to have the cluster replaced. I also advised them in my submittal that the LCD display would stop working in the top half when it was hot.
Anyway, my letter says I have a valid claim based on part C2 One Time Repair (with declaration).
I am advised to take my car to a dealer within 45 days of the letter and they will replace the instrument cluster. There is a formal approval box on the back of the letter with my VIN number and a bar code.
Woo Hoo. Hope there will be no hassle when I actually do this.
