Default Trunk & Fuel Release Buttons Oddity

Had something yesterday that sort of freaked me out.
Both the console buttons for these stopped working (thankfully after filling up gas so not too panicked).

I found a solution on AW.com telling how to fix it.
Shut door - lock with key fob - open with key fob - returns to normal working.

Which it did (strange) but wondering if I did something to makethem quit working.
Is there a sequence that locks those from working? Like a top down parked protection?
Just curious.

That's happened to me twice (coupe). It seems to be related to pressing fob buttons randomly too many times in succession; if you lock / unlock a bunch of times in a row with the fob the fuel door / hatch (trunk in your case) release buttons become disabled, and as you've found, you can get them to work again by cycling the door locks (key in door). Audi electronics have their quirks, don't they?

Yeah that happened to me the second day I got my car, and I had no idea about the key lock thing I had to take it back to the dealership. They told me how to fix it.

And in case you didn't know you can open your gas tank door my pulling on the cord (It has a gas tank pic on it)the cord is inside the little door in your trunk.
