2001 tt coupe 225 quattro, 150000 miles. My right rear tire wears almost twice as fast as the rest. It wears out after about 12000 miles, the rest at 20000 to 22000. Does anyone else have a similar result?

 

Where is it wearing excessively? Inner tread? Outer tread? Cupping? Down the middle?

Need more info!

 

The wear is down the middle, very even.

 

Well I like most have had issues with tire wear but I only wish i could say it was the middle. It may be as simple as the air pressure. Too much will cause the middle to wear. But my curiosity is the fact that I was told (and correct me if I'm wrong) that these have a natural camber in the rear. They are aligned that way for corrnering purposes or stability. Just because of that Id have someone check the alignment as well. maybe?

 

THis should of been a given many miles ago

 

I too have noticed significant tire wear in the right rear tire. Own a 2006 A6 2.7T. The wear appears even. Only 14000 miles on a Michelin 400 treadwear rated tire. The othe three show very little wear. Any suggestions?
