timing belt change? OEM or Upgrade?
hi guys,
well i just bought my used 2001 225TT, and it has 58xxx miles on it.. so in only 2000 miles ill be looking to do the 60K service.. now reading all these posts about the timing belt being a scary issue i had one question.
when changing timing belt, should i stay with the OEM timing belt (that should be changed every 60K), or a better upgraded timing belt (??? who makes one ???, that could possibly last longer).
looking for some help.. and also, how much does the belt and labor cost to install?? im sure its substantially less than blowing the head.

i would probally go wit ECS Tuning Ultimate Timing Belt Combo with Under Drive Pulley Kit. it should be sick but mine was changed already so i'll just have to wait till i have nothin else to do here is the link

that underdrive crap is just that. crap. for a few extra horses, I don't need to be running everything under my hood at less than their engineered speed. Dont think its worth it.
www.dieselgeek.com makes a good kit too, everything you need, OEM replacement, but better belt tensioner, and these neat little screws that help you remove your water pump.

Here we go again. My two cents. Remember its not the belt that fails at 60K, its something like that P.O.S. water pump, that fails then blows the belt. If you are going to do the belt, check all of the components the belt runs as well.

so say i get this kit:
All Inclusive Transverse 1.8T Timing Belt Deluxe Kit for engines AWD, AWW, AWP, APH, AWV, ATC, AMU, BEA
and install it @ 60K, what else should be done as part of the service?
