Default Test Pipe or Muffler Delete

I just bought a TT 225q last week, and even thought I don't have a bunch of extra money laying around, I would like to free up the exhaust a little bit. I was originally looking at doing a test pipe, but I can't seem to find a test pipe that mounts up to the stock downpipe. Also, from what I've gathered about the exhaust so far, it looks like it would make more sense to just wait and get a new downpipe all together.

I've done some searching, and I've noticed that a couple people have deleted the muffler and been happy with it. I saw attchung's video on youtube and I liked the sound. I have a shop that will do a muffler delete for 75$. Does anybody that has done this before know from experience if this sounds good/has any effect on performance?

Thanks!

as i've mentioned, i get a bit of drone right around 3K RPMs, which is 75mph on the highway. It also resonates on deceleration around that area on the tach. Turbo spools easier with the reduced restriction, and that was what i was going for. I did leave the resonator muffler, only removing the 'main' muffler at the back of the car. Idle and cruise are just about as quiet as stock.

Feel free to post/PM if you have more questions or have a video request.

testpipe creates more toxic waste for our air that our cats convert water to! so stop polluting and go with the muffler delete!

Thanks for the advice guys. I think I'm just going to take out the main muffler. Attchung, did you just weld a y pipe into your stock tips then?

I would love to hear this in person, before chopping mine out. I removed the resonator, and it is very slightly more aggressive sounding, but ever so slightly...

i have thought about removing my muffler, getting 2 new tips and making a new rear section. I would flange it so i could swap it if i hated the sound. The only thing that stops me is i will have a dp and i dont think it will sound good with a catless dp and no muffler.

I just took an icepick and tapped 75 holes into the bottom of my stock muffler, and drilled through the cat with a 3/8" bit in 4 places.

Awesome sound, kinda like a Dodge Aries K-Car.
