My temp guage is off 2 "notches" when I start the engine. I had the temp checked and the car is not running hot. Dealer says I need to replce the instrument cluster ($750.00). I have also read forums list owners with many other instrument issues on the 2001 tt. Is thsi the beginning of major problems? Is there a cheaper fix?

 

look at the temp sender, if its black, replace it with a green one. Original senders were known to go bad, the green one is the replacement. If I had more time I'd get you the part number, but Im just checkin in quick on the forum.

 

The temp gauge reading to high is more comanly caused by the progaming in the dash pannel going bad, but can also be caused by faulty temp sender. To check what is causeing it you need diagnosics to plug in, then run final control on the dash this will then tell you which one is faulty.
I think that there a a new recall out now on the TT dashes under 5 years old and they are being replace for free and people that have been paying for them to be replaced are having money refounded. So if you are just out of this date you might be able to get good will if you prove enough of a pain at the desk.

ok i also have a 02 TT 225hp and my temp guage is scaring me. the guage is def. off cuz when the car is off the temp. is two notices to the right and when the car is on it's one notice to the H. this happened a day after i bought the car and the dealer ordered a new cluster for me, that's cool because their tech said the car temp is fine. now my issue is that the center display came on w/ the temp symbol and then the temp guage was pass the H. i stopped the car and popped the hood, i heard like bubbling. should i be worried or did the display go off because of the temp guage?

 

ok so i also learned that on the climate control u can view ur engine temp. all u have to do is hold the recurcutate button and the up arrow while the climate control is on and turn the left *** to 49 then hit the recurulate button again. does any1 know what all the other chanells are?

and on my car it goes up to like chan 80 would help alot. do u know if there is another chart like this cus when i went to audi the guy said that his a4 had different numbers too. thanx

 

The codes vary through each Audi model.

on my 01 225 the temp gauge is now completely dead. it's on the bottom of cold no moving at all.
